Treeconomy is delighted to finally announce the signing of a groundbreaking SBRI contract with the UK Space Agency for our "Unlocking Space for Nature-related Finance" project. This contract marks a significant milestone for the company as we continue to push the boundaries of innovation in nature finance.
Through the work funded by the UK Space Agency, we will be harnessing satellite data and machine learning models, making them more accessible to relevant stakeholders in the nature-based carbon removal environment. Dr Matt Amos, Treeconomy's Science Lead, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating:
"We’re excited to start work on this contract, putting satellite-derived analytics in the hands of investors and asset managers. This has the potential to unlock incredible amounts of capital for nature-positive investments."
Our mission is clear: to provide affordable yet insightful intelligence that unlocks and facilitates investment in nature-based carbon removal projects. By combining multiple remotely sensed data streams, we will develop a cutting-edge, multi-scale carbon-focused MRV system. This system will provide unparalleled insights tailored for investors and asset managers interested in supporting nature-based solutions. Our CEO and co-founder, Harry Grocott, stated what this type of contract means for Treeconomy as a company:
“Treeconomy is a mission-driven business; we exist to combat climate change by scaling atmospheric carbon dioxide removal. To succeed requires Nature to be invested in just the same way we invest in renewable energy - at scale. Our SBRI project for the UK Space Agency will allow us to ‘translate’ Nature into a language that investors can understand, enabling them to invest more comfortably, at a greater rate, and importantly to a greater total amount.”
We look forward to sharing the significant strides we will make in advancing the field of nature finance. Our innovative approach will deliver actionable insights to empower natural capital investors to make informed decisions, benefiting the environment and their portfolios.
