We're delighted to kick off 2024 with fantastic news: Dr. Linda Sheard has joined Treeconomy’s Advisory Board. Her addition marks an exciting milestone for us, signalling significant progress in our mission to develop technology and products that enable nature restoration and maintain high integrity in the carbon markets.
Dr. Sheard brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our advisory team. With a strong focus on responsible AI implementation, she has played a pivotal role in developing end-to-end AI and analytics solutions on Microsoft's Azure Cloud. Her passion for ensuring the responsible use of AI perfectly aligns with our commitment to leveraging technology for the betterment of nature and the planet. Dr. Sheard’s significant work involves collaborating with organisations across the UK central government sector, particularly in integrating complex datasets for sustainability-driven use cases. For instance, she focuses on enriching datasets related to vital aspects such as identifying and assessing the condition of peatlands, which are crucial for carbon capture.
We asked Dr. Sheard why she decided to join our Advisory Board, and she expressed:
"I was so pleased to get to know the Treeconomy team through their involvement with the Microsoft AI4Good programme. Their attitude to embracing challenge, learning best practice, and assembling the right skills has been stellar from the start, and so I have full confidence in their ability to execute with appropriate use of cutting-edge tech. I'm very excited to have the opportunity to support them further on their important journey!"
For Treeconomy, Linda’s addition is a significant step forward. Her technical prowess in machine learning, remote sensing, and cloud expertise will bolster our capabilities, aiding in the development of cutting-edge solutions within our monitoring (Sherwood) and marketplace platforms.
